His 1918 WWI Draft Card defines him as tall, slender, with brown eyes and brown hair. In 1930, he and Florence are living in Queens, New York. They have no children. In 1940, he is back in Texas, states he is widowed, and is living with the Charles Britz family, by whom he is identified as an uncle. Military records say he was a member of the 1st Texas Cavalry. Ernest died in the VA hospital in Kerrville of cancer.
