Mr. John W. Carpenter, age 67, of Uvalda, died Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after an extended illness. He was a native of the Gray's Landing Community, and lived in Toombs and Montgomery Counties all of his life. He was a self-employed truck driver most of his life, and was a former Montgomery County Commissioner and was currently serving on the Uvalda City Council. He was a member of the Smyrna United Methodist Church. John enjoyed fishing, leisurely riding, talking with his many friends, and looking at deer. Preceding him in death are his parents, Wade Thomas Carpenter, Sr. and Minnie Wallace Crosby Carpenter.
The funeral service will be Friday, March 25th, at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Crossing Baptist Church with Pastor Howard Conine and Ken Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Crossing Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Cedar Crossing Baptist Church on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
