Alexandria, VA - MSgt Craig Martin West, 39, of Alexandria, VA died Monday afternoon, March 21, 2022 at Genesis Hospital-Emergency Room.

Born June 1, 1982 in Zanesville, a son of Richard and Diane (Kimberlin) West and a 2000 graduate of Tri-Valley High School.

While in high school Craig earned the BSA rank of Eagle Scout; graduated from MATC 2003 (now Zane State) with his Associates Degree in EET and attended Salem United Methodist and Adamsville United Methodist Church.

He went on to further his education while serving in the United States Air Force. He earned The Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, 3 Air Force Commendation Medals, 3 Air Force Achievement Medals, his CompTia Security Plus Certification, and a Community College of the Air Force Associates Degree. He also graduated Senior Non-Commission Officer Academy, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Education Academy I and II. MSgt Craig West was assigned as Flight Chief, Plans, Programs and Resources 744th Communication Squadron, Joint Base Andrews. Craig was actively protecting our country while serving in the U.S. Air Force for the past 18.5 years.

During his time in the service, Craig traveled to over 32 countries but was never able to speak or tell about what he was doing. He, lived in South Korea for two years and Germany for the past twelve years.

He loved the Military and his military family, traveling throughout the world and enjoying the European Culture and lifestyle.

Surviving are his parents, Richard (Diane) West; a brother, Marcus (Jessica) West; a niece, Melanie West, a nephew, Nathan West; his maternal grandmother, Jean L. Kimberlin; aunts and uncles, Dennis Kimberlin, David (Rachelle) Kimberlin, Debbie Kimberlin, Donna (Dave) Matthews, Denise Cochran, Darla (Gary) Downey, Maxine West and Thomas (Hilda) West; many cousins.

Craig was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harold and Lena West; maternal grandfather, William H. Kimberlin; an aunt, Linda S. Hittle and an uncle, Harold M. West Jr.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-Valley Swim Team Booster Club, 46 E. Muskingum Avenue, Dresden, Ohio 43821 or Tri-Valley Band Booster Association Inc., 46 E. Muskingum Avenue, Dresden, Ohio 43821.

Friends and family may call Friday, March 25, 2022 from 4:00- 8:00pm at Adamsville United Methodist Church, 8065 East Street, Adamsville, Ohio where funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, March 26, 2022 with Pastor Mary Molnar officiating.

Craig will be laid to rest at Heaven's Gate Cemetery, Adamsville, OH with full Military Honors accorded to him by the United States Air Force.

The family is being assisted by the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home.
