ELKHART, IN. -- James Billy Love, 82, of Elkhart, died Monday March 21, 2022, at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born June 25, 1939, in Tupelo, Mississippi to Irvin and Roberta (Townson) Love.
Surviving is his wife, Sarah Gayden; 3 daughters, Jaime (Faston) Love- Mwachande of Noblesville, IN, Audrey Gayden of Florida, Geraldine Johnson of Green Bay WI; 4 grandchildren, Joseph Green, Jamia Green, Jayana Green and Prince Fa Mwachande. Also surviving are 7 siblings, Rosie Robinson of Elkhart, Sadie Ott of Elkhart, Lillie Nolan of Chicago, Luberta Love of Elkhart, Arnetta Sykes of Chicago, Billy Love of Elkhart and Oliver Love of Elkhart and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 8 siblings, Daisy Walker, Pearl Love, Hattie Love, Gladys Brown, Gloria Love Irvin Love, Jr., David Love, and Henry Love.
James retired from the Elkhart Street Department as a truck driver. He was a US Army veteran and enjoyed collecting model trucks. In his younger years he liked riding his motorcycle.
Funeral services for James will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 802 W. Garfield Ave., Elkhart, IN. Pastor Danny T. Brown will preside, and burial will follow in Rice Cemetery where there will be full military honors rendered. Friend may visit with the family for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with his care.
