Richard Allen Olson passed away peacefully with his mother and sister by his side at Kootenai Health on June 14, 2021, at age 41 due to complications from COVID-19.

Richard, at a younger age, was affectionately known as "Ricky Bug" and in his older years known as "Rockin Richard" due to the autism rock he did when he was happy. He was born May 1, 1980, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, raised in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 2001.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers James Ohnemus and Robert Nelson; aunts Joyce Barber, Jan Nuszkiewicz and Jill Foelsch; grandmother Edna Ohnemus; and brother Christopher Olson.

He is survived by his sister Amber Nelson, mom Jodi Nelson, step father Eric Nelson, grandmother Ruth Nelson and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Richard was born with special needs and despite being severely handicapped he enjoyed many different activities. He loved to walk up to people and poke their tummy in an attempt to make them giggle like his Elmo plush did. Richard loved to draw, go camping, go on drives, spend time at the lake or ocean, and many more exciting activities. He would spend hours on YouTube finding videos from Elmo to nursing. Whenever you saw Richard more than likely he would be carrying around his beloved Elmo, Arthur, or baby doll. At a younger age he always loved to arrange his Fisher Price Little People into different events, such as a yard sale or maybe an auction that would cover the living room floor.

His family is immensely grateful for all those who were there for Richard during his life and thanks them for their help, love and support toward him in Richard's life.

The date of his Celebration of Life is to be determined and will be announced soon.
