Donald Gene Barnes, 79, passed away March 14, 2022, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Huntersville. Born August 1, 1942.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Darlene Fisher Barnes of Charlotte; stepson, James Rizzo; son, Benjamin Barnes; daughters, Amy Barnes and family, Wendy Barnes; sister, Nancy Caldwell and husband Richard Caldwell and family; sister-in-law, Denise Babyak; nephew, Nicholas Babyak; and brother-in-law, Douglas Fisher.

He is preceded in death by his father, Elden Barnes; mother, Elloise Barnes; stepmother, Hilda Barnes, mother-in-law, Olga Fisher; and father-in-law, James Fisher.

Donald was a member of Saint Luke Greek Orthodox Church and involved as a tonsured reader, group leader, choir member, Sunday school teacher, served on Parish council, and a respected member of the men's group—And most beloved godfather to several blessed children.

A visitation will be held at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home located at 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078 on Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 at St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church at 134 Talbert Pointe Dr, Mooresville, NC at 10:00AM. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd., Mint Hill, NC 28227.
