Wilma Rae Smith Hogge, 83, of 4500 Gilbert's Beach Road, Tyner, NC, died Thursday, March 17, 2022 in her home. Mrs. Hogge was born in Rowan County on July 18, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Willie Ray and Mary Marie Carter Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles N. "Boogie" Hogge; an infant daughter; and a sister, Helen Hall (Wilbert, deceased).

Retired from the Materials Purchasing Department of Newport News Shipbuilding after 28 years of employment, she was a faithful member of Chowan Christian Fellowship, the L.O.V.E. Group, and had served as a volunteer with the Edenton-Chowan Food Pantry.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 27th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Thomas Gregory. After services, she will be cremated and placed in the columbarium with her husband at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.
