Edward Harold Allen, 88, of Sandwich passed away January 4, 2008 at Valley West Community Hospital Sandwich, IL. He was born on October 5, 1919 in Eldorado, IL to the late Edward and Tollie Allen.
He served his country with the Navy for six years during WWII. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and a 50 year Masonic member of Sun Beam Lodge 283 in Sandwich. He retired as a Union Carpenter and also owned and operated his medical equipment company.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Sandwich; four children, Arnold (Ellie) Allen of Sandwich, Kathleen (Curt) Heurtz of Sandwich, Kenneth (Martha Denise) Allen of Sandwich and Sherry (Eric) Storms of Monroe, CT; two sisters, June (Russell) Scott and Judy (Paul) Brandon; five brothers, James (Shirley) Allen, Byford Allen, Ruben (Marlene) Allen, Sidney (Mitzi) Allen and David (Peg) Allen; four grandchildren, Diane (Mike) Rose, Nichol Storms, Joshua Storms and Edward Allen; four step-grandchildren, Joshua Wright, Natalie and Nathan Hunt, and Katelyn Hollenbach; one great-grandchild, Melissa Rose; also several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his three brothers, Ralph, Joe and Wilburn; and step-grandson, Mark Repko.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church Sandwich with Rev. David Kaul officiating. Interment to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery Sandwich.
