W. Wilson Schoonover, 91, of Ashland died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at Hospice House.
He was born in Ashland Nov. 7, 1916, the son of John and Winnie Mae (Bell) Schoonover.
Schoonover had been a resident of Ashland all his life where he was a farmer. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed attending field trials.
On Feb. 19, 1939, he married Virginia (Morr) Schoonover who preceded him in death in 2002.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, James and Janet Schoonover of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Burnie Riblett of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Beverly and Alvin Wiley of Ashland, Oh.; and daughter-in-law, Susanne Schoonover of Ashland, Oh.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granchild; and two sisters, Corine Johns of Ashland, Oh. and Pauline Ross of Loudonville, Oh.
In addition to his wife, Schoonover was preceded in death by his parents; son, Woodrow "Woody" Schoonover Jr.; a sister and five brothers.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at Heyl Funeral Home, with Pastor Norm Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at the funeral home.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to the donor's choice.
