Janet Leslie Johnson, 83, Fargo, passed away, Monday, March 21, 2022, at Sanford Hospice House, Fargo.
Jan was born March 30, 1938, at home in Ayr, North Dakota, to Peter and Eva (Lloyd) Beattie. She attended school in Ayr, before graduating from Moorhead High School, in 1956. She went on to graduate from Jamestown College, with a degree in Social Studies. She met and eventually married, Donald Johnson, on December 19, 1959, in Moorhead, MN.
She worked at the State Hospital, in Jamestown, for a short time, before becoming a stay-at-home parent, when her oldest child Mark was born. To this union, 3 other children were born; Leslie, Lisa and Doug. She went back to work various jobs later in her career, including for: North Dakota State Health Department, W.I.C. and Cass County Social Services. She eventually retired from Cass County Social Services, but failed in retirement, and went back to work various retail jobs.
Golfing was one of her main hobbies and she loved to do it. She was a member of a women's golf league and organized a weekly Mahjong game with friends. She enjoyed traveling and wintering in Texas and Arizona, with Don. Her favorite memories, were the trips down to Dallas with her family.
She is survived by her four children: Mark (Kathleen) Johnson, Colleyville, TX., Leslie Johnson, Fargo, ND., Lisa Johnson, Fargo, ND., Doug (Katie) Johnson, West Fargo, ND.; six grandchildren: Kellan (Kelli) Teske, Sioux Falls, SD., Chance (Julie) Teske, Grafton, ND., Ryan Johnson, Colleyville, TX., Rachel Johnson, Colleyville, TX., Jada Johnson, West Fargo, ND., Keagan Johnson, West Fargo, ND.; great-grandson, Kyler Teske, Sioux Falls, SD.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald, in 2017; siblings: Gardis Mundt, Jaci Mundt, James Beattie, Robert Beattie and Geri Arneson.
Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo, with visitation starting at 10:00 A.M.
Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
