Jimmy graduated Central High School in Cookeville in 1957. He was US Army veteran and retired member of TN National Guard with over 29 years of service. He also retired from a career that spanned over 26 years with State of TN Department of Corrections.
He was a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge 751 FA&M. He was a member of Monterey First Baptist Church and he served as deacon for over 30 years.
Jimmy leaves behind his wife of 40 years: Gerry Shavers Miller; children: Jimmy Jr. (Vicki) Miller of Cumberland Cove, Billy Miller of Jasper, and Kim Walker of Monterey; step-children: Andrew Hunter of Murfreesboro, Jonathan David (Khristanne) Hunter of Knoxville, and Melissa (Mark) Willoughby of Kingston Springs, grandchildren: Brandon (Amy) Walker, Amanda Flatt, Melinda Hunter, April Hunter, Holly Rochin, Savannah Hunter, and Chandler Hunter; seven great grandchildren, and great granddaughter: Gracie Dawn Walker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Geneva Vaden Miller; and siblings: Billy Frank Miller and Betty Eldridge; and son-in-law: Robert Walker.
Funeral services were held Saturday March 26, 2022 at Horner Funeral Home in Monterey with Bro. Johnny Bowman officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Welch Memorial Cemetery.
