William Lawson "Billy" Scott, age 76, of Alma passed away at his residence on March 20, 2022 after a extended illness. He was born in Bacon County on March 31, 1945 to William Clark Scott and Evelyn Foreman Scott. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Barbara "Bobby" Ellis Scott; brothers, Richard Scott and Harry Scott; sisters, Margie Taylor, Catherine Crews and Phyllis Turner. Mr. Billy was a member of Wesley Chapel "Wolf Pit" Congregational Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Ann Rigdon Scott of 52 years; three children, Kevin Scott (Nina), Melissa Carter (Scott) and Christy Lee (David); foster son, Jose Benitez; brothers, Glover Scott (Maurice) and Bruce Scott; sister, Linda Scott Vaughn (Leon); 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; special friends, Dionisio and Alex Portillo and caregiver, Melissa Taylor.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Wesley Chapel "Wolf Pit" Church with Rev. Dewayne Tanner, Rev. Danny Turner, Rev. Tommy Rigdon and Rev. T. F. Yawn officiating. Interment will follow in Wolf Pit Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Dusty Rowland, Jarrett Carter, Josh Carter, Tyler Lee, John Tyler, Dionisio Portillo and Alex Portillo.
