He retired from Pat Salmon and Sons and was a charter member of Living Hope Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, grilling and taking care of the Church lawn.
James is survived by his wife of 32 years, Gwen Forrest; children, Jason and Laura Forrest, of Sherwood, Steven James Forrest, Aaron Forrest, both of North Little Rock and Sarah Crossett of Heber Springs; grandchildren, Elizabeth Forrest, Nathan Forrest and Nicholas Long Forrest; mother-in-law, Arlene Speer; siblings, Jimmy Forrest (Sharon), Jan Snaples (Wayne) and Joan Hicks (Greg); his faithful dog and companion, King; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law, John Speer.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home.
