Frances Bair, 88, of Hanover, died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at the Hanover Nursing Center.

She was born Sept. 26, 1914, in Jefferson County, the daughter of William and Ethel Moreland Gammon. She retired from food service at the Southwestern School Corp. She was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church, where she played the piano and served as a Sunday School teacher for several years.

Surviving are two sons, Russell Bair of Phoenix, Ariz., and Donald Bair of Hanover; one sister, Edna Horton, and one brother, Paul Gammon, both of Hanover; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville G. Bair, in 1973; two brothers, William and Orville Gammon; and one grandson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Vail-Holt Funeral Home Hanover Chapel, with burial in the New Prospect Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the New Prospect Cemetery Association. Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
