James C. Leiker, age 63, of Cato, died on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

James was born in January of 1944, son of the late John and Dorothy (Oquist) Leiker. He attended schools in Manitowoc, and graduated with the class of 1962, from Lincoln High School. James served in the U.S. Army. He worked at Manitowoc Engineering for many years, and then as a rural mail carrier in the Valders area, until his retirement in 2006.

Survivors include two brothers and one sister-in-law: Richard Leiker, Manitowoc; John J. and Tammy Leiker, Manitowoc; three nieces: Michelle Leiker, and special friend, Scott Elder, both of Madison; Angela Leiker, Manitowoc; Melissa and (SSG Steven) Hecker, Lawton Okla.; one great-niece and three great-nephews: Xandy, Gage, Blaze and Jett, all of Lawton, Okla. James was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and sister-in-law: Cleelan and Marie Leiker.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at St. Francis of Assisi, Marshall Site. The Rev. John Schuetze will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside services will be accorded by the VFW Otto Oas Post 659.

Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State St., Manitowoc, from 5 to 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m., led by Deacon Alan Boeldt. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, from 10 a.m., until the time of services at 11 a.m.

The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the Leiker family with funeral arrangements.
