Linda Kathleen Ward, 79, of Newton died on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Accura Healthcare of Newton East. Celebration of Life at Maytag Park.

Linda, the daughter of Harry and Lucille (Sawyer) Bingaman, was born on November 25, 1942. As a teen her family moved to Des Moines and she graduated from North High School.

She married Robert Ward. They lived around the United States, but always called Iowa home. They permanently moved back to Iowa in 1976. Linda worked and later retired as a nurse from Iowa Methodist Medical Center. In 2016, Linda moved to Newton. She attended the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints church and was a past member of the Lady of the Moose. Linda enjoyed reading and search-a-words. She also liked to collect elephants, watch birds, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Linda is survived by her sons, Langdon Paul (Shawn) Ward of Burton, Michigan, and Randy Ward of Newton; grandchildren, Robert (Anna) Ward, Heather Ward, James Ward, Logan Word, and Dominic Ward; her sister, Marilyn Burns of Jamaica, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; daughter-in-law, Samantha Ward; two brothers, Albert and Harlan Bingaman; a sister in infancy; and a niece, Hallie Burns.
