Kevin Green
November 2, 1952 ~ March 16, 2022 (age 69)

Richard Kevin Green, of Marion, passed away following an extended illness at DeWolfe Place on Wednesday evening, March 16, 2022. He was 69. Kevin was born November 2, 1952 in Marion, the son of Richard and Jacqueline (Price) Green. He grew up in Marion and graduated from Ridgedale High School in 1971. Following Ridgedale, Kevin attended Marion Technical College, earning his Associates Degree in Civil Engineering. Kevin devoted his life to his work, including construction and civil engineering, but he also found time to focus on other pursuits like woodworking, the arts, golf and, many moons ago, softball. He was a voracious reader, as he reveled in conversations about whatever book he happened to be reading. The consummate animal lover, Kevin also owned many dogs over the years and, though different breeds, each one held a special place in his heart.

A lover of his local community and nature, Kevin was an avid volunteer for numerous causes. He volunteered for decades at ComFest, the annual Columbus-based music and arts festival, where he could often be spotted driving a golf cart and doing his part to clean up Goodale Park, with his canine companion Keina by his side. Kevin could just as easily be found camping somewhere in Ohio, chopping down trees on his land for firewood, or shooting targets with one of his trusty sidearms (or other weapon) on the back 40. He will be fondly remembered for his beautiful mind, innate kindness, love of others and his presence will be sorely missed.
His memory will be cherished by his daughters: Tisha (Bart) Rinker, Gretchen Marie (Matt) McCreary, and Jennifer Green; grandchildren: Evan and Landon Rinker, Harper and Greyson McCreary, and Liam Murphy; and siblings: Kathy Weston (Tim Mooney) and Sarah (Kent) Smith. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who loved him dearly. Kevin is preceded in death by his sister, Connie, and both of his parents. Visitation will be Monday, March 21, 2022 at Boyd Funeral Home, 122 W. Columbia St., Marion from 12 – 1pm, with a graveside service to follow at 1:30pm at Grand Prairie Cemetery at Brush Ridge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marion Meals on Wheels.
