Marcus attended and joined White Oak Baptist Church at a young age. He studied Criminal Justice at Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. He was certified in HVAC repair. He was self-employed as a landscaper and took great pride in his work. He was known to always be willing to lend a helping hand.
Marcus was preceded in death by his step-father, Alphonso Peeples and his brother, Felix Stokes.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories his mother, Della Peeples of Camden, SC; his father, George Stokes of Tarboro, NC; his step-mother, Lorraine Stokes of Tarboro, NC; two brothers, Cedrics Stokes and Travis Stokes both of Tarboro, NC; one sister, Pamela (Marion) Brevard of Blythewood, SC; three step-sisters, Kimberly Pate of Dallas, NC, Shirley Peeples of Atlanta, GA and Brenda (Julius) Hinds of Montego Bay, Jamaica and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
