U.S. Air Force Veteran Retired From Blood Assurance And Had A Passion For Golf
James Henry "Jim" Davenport, 71, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Marge Davenport; and grandparents, Rev. James and Martha Davenport and Henry and Ella Lewis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Gail Davenport; children: Kim (Scott) Hufstetler of Dalton, and Justin (Deanna) Pack of Chattanooga; sister, Martha (John) Mabry; brothers, Tom (Tammy) Davenport, Tim (Mychelle) Davenport; grandchildren, Cody Hufstetler, Dala Hufstetler, Taylor Hufstetler, Tori Hufstetler, Reannah Pack and several nieces and nephews.
Jim graduated from Red Bank High School where he was a member of the golf team coached by Hutch Lewis. While obtaining his BS Degree from UTC, he continued golf under Coach Joe Geri. Jim served in the United States Air Force stationed in Charleston, SC. He was retired from Blood Assurance.
He was a history buff, always had a passion for golf and the Tennessee Vols and had a great sense of humor. During retirement, one of his favorite things to do, aside from golf, was mowing the grass.
Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he will be greatly missed.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, March 24, from 6-8 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace.
The funeral service to celebrate Jim's life will be held on Friday, March 25, at 11 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
