Professional football player. After graduating from Cathedral High School in Springfield, Joseph Albert Scibelli played for Notre Dame as a sophomore. He decided to finish college at American International in Massachusetts. He was taken by the Los Angeles Rams in the 10th round of the NFL draft in 1961. He was a fixture at right offensive guard for the Rams for fifteen years from 1961 through 1975, one of the longest tenures in team history. He played in the Pro Bowl in 1969 and was an All-Pro selection in 1973. He was a team co-captain during his last ten years with the Rams. He was named the Rams' most valuable offensive lineman five times, and five of the Ram teams on which he played won their division. After retiring, Scibelli ran a produce distributorship in Springfield, his hometown. He died of cancer.
