John Brennan Quinn, age 95, of Plymouth, formerly of Robbinsdale, passed away March 12, 2022.

John was born in Minneapolis.

Raised in Robbinsdale, where he attended Sacred Heart Grade School, graduated from Robbinsdale High School and held many jobs in his youth. John served in the US 6th Army during World War II, from 1945 to 1946 in the South Pacific and was stationed in Japan during the Occupation. He returned home in December 1946 to a job awaiting him at Midwest Printing. In 1950 he began as a pressman for The Minneapolis Star and The Minneapolis Tribune, retiring in 1988 after 38 years. John launched a brief side business in 1962, Timely Hobby Cards, with the whole family helping in its success. John met Jeanette on a blind date. They enjoyed 64 years of married bliss, raising their family in a close-knit Robbinsdale neighborhood. They took family trips each summer to cabins up north and on a memorable month-long family road trip out west. John and Jeanette retired in 1988 to their Wisconsin lake home before moving to Florida for 12 years. They returned to Minnesota in 2004 to reside at Gramercy Park of Plymouth, where they loved being near their family. John and Jeanette made many friends and were involved in their church and community wherever they resided, also volunteering in various capacities. John and Jeanette spread their Minnesota Twins fandom to family and friends from trips to Metropolitan Stadium to spring training in Florida. They loved to travel and took many trips, including to Hawaii and Ireland. They also took many pleasant detours on return trips from Florida. One favorite of John's was a Mississippi River dinner cruise on the Mark Twain Riverboat in Hannibal, MO. John was a 72-year member of the American Legion and was active at the Westphal Post in Robbinsdale, holding many positions. He was an active lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW. He was a dedicated union member and very proud of his Irish heritage. John enjoyed fishing, golfing, skiing, and birdwatching. He was an accomplished cook and grill master, and dog lover. John, a bit of an inventor, was always tinkering and did various carpentry and handyman projects. He loved playing cards especially bridge and in recent years Gin 13 with "the guys." He was a jokester, a singer of songs, and didn't miss a day reading the Star Tribune. He was honored to play in the American Cancer Society's "Longest Day of Golf" benefit event, going 105 holes. What John loved most of all was spending time with Jeanette, his family and his friends. John's family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care of the Park Nicollet Hospice Team and to all the staff at the Trails of Orono and greatest appreciation to the dedicated nurses and caregivers - you all will never be forgotten.

Survived by children Larry (Judy), Patty (Steve) Longaecker, Mernie (Rich) Perkins, Bob (Gayle), and Tim; grandchildren Shane (Michelle), Jude (Jana), Shannel (Greg), Mike (Jen), Emily (Carl), Zach (Stacy), Brian (Evelyn), Kevin (Janessa), Justin (Heather), and Sean (Val); 19 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
