Mary C. (Caturia) Jennings, age 77, left this world on March 19, 2022, and is now at peace with God.
Mary Catherine was born on January 23, 1945, in Hastings, MN, the fourth child and only daughter of Clinton and Frances (Brenner) Caturia. She attended St. Boniface Catholic School in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1963. While in high school, Mary was actively involved in many groups and activities such as FHA, Chorus, Thespians, and was Captain of the cheerleading squad. Following high school, she enrolled in the Nursing Program at St. Teresa's Collage in Winona, MN. During her college years, she joined the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi in Rochester, MN in anticipation of becoming a Catholic nun, but later chose to follow her nursing career. On May 21, 1977, she married John "Jack" Jennings, whom she met while working at Heathrow Airport in London. She enjoyed traveling with her loving husband Jack, and often visited many parts of the world all while making friends wherever she went.
Mary was an active caregiver and volunteer, specifically working with St. Vincent de Paul Society and other organizations to help those in need and was always an avid social justice advocate.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Jack; four brothers, James (Peg) Caturia, Robert (Gayle) Caturia, William (Sally) Caturia, and Charles (Mary) Caturia; Jack's three sons, Philip (Martha) Jennings, Timothy (Wendy) Jennings, and David Jennings; grandchildren; John and Heather Jennings; twenty one nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews; and by many other family members and friends from around the world.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father Bill Murtaugh and Father David Hennen officiating. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, and for one hour prior to the Mass at church on Saturday morning.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Heifer International, PBS, or to the donor's choice in memory of Mary.
