Antonio Mendoza Jaramillo Jr, age 76, of Austin, Texas entered into Eternal Life on Friday, January 7, 2022. "Tony", as he was known by his friends and customers, was born on April 24, 1945, in Buckholts, Texas.
Tony was a loving husband and was married to his devoted wife Lydia for over 50 years. Tony's greatest joy and pride in life was his family and by example, he instilled into them the importance of family unity. He was a strong, supportive father of five children and a tender, gentle "Papo" of fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He worked as a master electrician for 54 years and shared his passion for the trade with his sons and son-in-law. Throughout his life, he enjoyed working hard and if you could keep up, he would share his knowledge with you as he did so many times with family members, friends, and in-laws. You could always spot him at Home Depot, at the local grocery stores, or in his garage working on his '75 T-Bird. And whether he was listening to rock-n-roll, cajun, or conjunto music or whether he was playing the table drums as he reminisced about playing in his uncles' band, it was his love of music that would move his feet and usually lead to a story or two. Even after his retirement, you would never see him slow down unless, of course, it was halfway through a football game as he dozed off in his chair watching his UT Longhorns or his Green Bay Packers.
He was a source of wisdom and strength in a humble manner to all who he knew and loved him. With his distinguished silver hair and golden heart, Tony loved to share his life stories with his family, friends, and neighbors, and always went out of his way to lend a helping hand. As the word of his passing spread, a few neighbors shared how it was always a comfort knowing that the "Mayor of Madison" was on the clock and that his absence would change the community. He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Elida M. Jaramillo; grandparents Juan and Lupita Mendoza; sisters Connie Garcia and Alicia Jaramillo; and brother Richard Jaramillo.
His loved ones left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Lydia Jaramillo; daughters Carmen and husband Lazaro Garcia; Antonia and husband Richard Soza; sons Joseph and wife Sandra Arriola; Tony Lee Jaramillo; Christopher and wife Abby Jaramillo along with 14 beloved grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother Fred (and wife Minnie) Jaramillo; sisters Helen Herrera; Nancy Luna and half-brother Trinidad Jaramillo; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home on Sunday, January 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the same location followed by the Committal Service at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville Texas.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff who attended and cared for our father during his time at the Heart Hospital of Austin.
Those who wish to donate to a foundation in Tony's memory may give a contribution to St. Jude Children's Hospital, which was the charity closest to his heart.
Although our hearts are broken, our memories of him will remain forever.
Honoring Antonio as pallbearers will be Thomas Garcia, Antonio Jaramillo, Diego Jaramillo, Joven Arriola, Rick Soza, Michael Gomez, and Christopher Trevino. Lazaro Garcia will be an honorary pallbearer.
