Rebecca Williams
February 28, 1925 - July 15, 2021

Rebecca ("Rubye") passed away on Thursday, July, 15, 2021, after a short battle with colon cancer. Her kindness can't be measured in as short a time as her 96 years. Born in Las Vegas, New Mexico she moved to Denver after high school graduation to see what her future may hold. She was married, and moved into her home in Thornton during the summer of 1955 when Thornton was just being developed. She passed away in her bedroom in her same home on Thursday morning. We were able to fulfill her wish to stay at home with the much appreciated kind and caring help of Denver Hospice.

She loved her home and enjoyed keeping it up, she loved yard work, loved her flower gardens, and roses that have bloomed every year after shortly moving into the home. She had a green thumb and could make anything grow. She developed lifelong friendships with neighbors all of whom were moving in around the same time. We're sure they're together again having coffee and pie,

She was predeceased by her daughter, Joyce Stutesman. She is survived by her brother, William Montoya of Stillwater, Oklahoma, her two daughters Lydia Meyer living in Denver, Colorado, Susan Williams living in Mesa, Arizona, and one son, Richard Williams living in Aurora, Colorado. She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children. Anyone who knew us knew that she was a star in our eyes, and that's all that ever mattered to her. Her ability to love ... family and friends, as well as all of our friends, was one of her best qualities, among so many others.

She was the proud grandmother of Heather Austin (Mike), Adam Anderson (Julia), Greg Meier, Eric Meyer, Rebecca Vargo (Jay), and Richard Williams, Jr. (Crystal); great-grandchildren Sydney Meyer and Gabby Meyer, Brent Austin, Lydia Austin and Josh Austin, Zyli Williams (1-1/2 years old, who has already learned a rhyming song made up by her great grandma, which all the grandchildren had heard when they were small), step great grandson Gabe Vargo; great-great grandchildren Jayden Austin and Emma Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Our mother was very proud of and lived her Catholic faith everyday. We could always tell how many people needed prayers by the number of candles she would have lit in her house. She prayed the rosary daily and although she lived alone in her home she would always tell us that she was never "alone," that Jesus was always with her.

She started working for the U.S. Post office in 1967, receiving accommodations of achievement for her excellent work ethic and dedication to her position as a postal clerk. She retired in 1988 and continued being a full time mother and grandmother, always taking care of us. She was selfless, as one small example, by always buying generic for herself, but always brand name for the Food Bank at Church. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Thornton, Colorado, when it was first built, and for the past several years has been a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Welby, Colorado, where she was a member of the Servites of Mary for many years.

Funeral service will be held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 2361 E 78th Ave, Denver, CO 80229 on Monday, July 26, 2021. The Rosary will begin at 10:O0 AM. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 12801 W. 44th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado 80033. The family invites all guests to a reception at Mount Olivet immediately following the burial.
