Fredrick (Freddy) Daniel Larson was born on the 3 of June 1934 in Bellingham, Washington to Fred and Ivy (Withers) Larson. He was their third son and 5th child.
He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in June of 1952. After 4 years service he rejoined civilian life, but felt he needed to do more and so enlisted with the U. S. Army in March 1961. He was assigned to the 1st Battle Group 11th Infantry at Fort Benning, Georgia. This was an Overseas Replacement unit and was scheduled to replace the 7th Infantry in Korea about Feb 1962 for one full year.
Upon his release from the Army, Freddy settled in Stockton, California where his younger sister Nancy was raising her family. He bought a home and worked for many years on the Air Base as a civilian employee. His request for a transfer to Bremerton Naval Shipyard came through and he moved north in 1982 where he purchased a 5 acre lot and small trailer. At the Shipyard, Freddy was employed as a welder until his retirement some years later.
In 1990, shortly after his retirement, he moved to the 40 acre home in Mead where his mother and brother Edward lived. After his mother passed he stayed on to care for Edward. Edward had taken care of their mother and she loved to go on car trips, now Edward was inclined to do the same. So for the last couple years of their life together in Mead, Freddy drove Edward to Ione almost daily, a round trip of 150 miles.
After Edward moved into Royal Court, Freddy took a small apartment not far from his brother and once Edward passed Freddy came to live at Brighton Court where he had the company of his sister Fern and brother-in-law Cliff Halstead for a short time before they passed.
Freddy had the gift of song and played the guitar from his early years on. He began writing songs and lyrics, many about his travels and his nostalgia for the home in Whatcom County. He and his older brother Edward often played and sang whenever the family gathered together, or an occasion called by friends. Freddy's guitar was always close at hand
Freddy was adventurous, warm-hearted, with a great sense of humor and a deep love for his family. He is survived by two sisters; Caroline Martin of Spokane and Elizabeth Johnson of Deer Park. In addition he leaves many loving nieces and nephews throughout the state.
He passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at the age of 88 years.
