He worked for the South Carolina Department of Transportation and was a faithful member of Forestville Baptist Church. He played college football for North Greenville University and was an avid Notre Dame Football fan.
Surviving is his wife of 20 years: Tennille Jones Banks; three daughters: Bailey Banks, Lizzie Banks and Micaela Banks; two brothers: Talbott Tomsey (Amanda) and Cedric Tomsey ;a step-father: Vernon Mosley; a mother-in-law: Connie Jones; a sister-in-law: Natasha Smith (Brett); a brother-in-law: Matthew Jones (Danielle); five Nephews: Patrick Gravley, Blake Smith, Eli Smith, Collin Tomsey and Nathan Jones; five nieces; Bristol Tomsey, Zoey Jones, Hayden Jones, Avery Tomsey and Dakota Tomsey; and two loving lifelong best friends to Big John: Wayne Harsha and Travis Green.
