Slim worked various odd jobs and enjoyed helping his friends by driving them around.

While sitting with his mother on March 06, 2022, Slim asked, "What is the meaning of communion?" After receiving an explanation his nephew prayed, his niece recited Luke 22:19-20, and Slim broke bread. He drank wine, asked for forgiveness, and prayed a prayer of thanksgiving.

Slim was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Lee Felder Young on September 04, 1987. Slim remained a loving and dedicated husband until Mary's transition.

In addition to his wife Mary, Slim is predeceased by his father Ralph W. Lewis Jr, one son Kenneth Grant, brother Clayton E. Lewis, and aunt Coatell Rice Linnen.
