Born in East Liverpool, April 2, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Oliver W. and Betty Wright Hughes. She had worked at Parsons Coal, Riverview Greenhouse and was a daycare teacher at the Community Resource Center. She was a longtime member of the Second Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. A true patriot, she supported the Wounded Warrior Project and the American Red Cross. She also supported the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kenneth Douglas, on December 3, 1992. The couple married January 18, 1962.
She is survived by two sons, John and Mark and daughters Michelle and Kathy as well as 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchilden.
Evangelist Rico Brown and Pastor Patricia Williams will conduct a funeral service at 12:00 noon Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service.
Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at the Orchards of Foxcrest and Trinity West Hospital, along with all the home health providers for the care they provided.
