Almina, Countess of Carnarvon, was the wife of George Herbert, 5th Earl of Carnarvon. She was born Almina Victoria Maria Alexandra Wombwell, the only child of Marie Wombwell, née Boyer, the French wife of Captain Frederick Charles Wombwell, a British military officer. Her biological father was Alfred de Rothschild, who provided a £500,000 trust as a dowry (equivalent to £59 million in 2020 pounds) upon her marriage and upon Rothschild's death in 1918, bequeathed to her £50,000 and his Mayfair house with its art collection, much of which she sold. She was married on June 26, 1895 at St. Margaret's, Westminster to George Edward Stanhope Molyneux Herbert, 5th Earl of Carnarvon with whom she had two children. Lady Carnarvon married Lieutenant Colonel Ian Onslow Dennistoun, a retired Grenadier Guards officer, in December 1923, eight months following Lord Carnarvon's death.

Following her death she was temporarily placed in a receiving vault until directions were received by her son, the 6th Earl of Carnarvon. She was removed from the receiving vault on 21 May 1969 and her remains were cremated. Her cremated remains were spread on the grounds of the Highclere estate. A memorial tablet, or cenotaph, was placed in the Church of Saint Michael and All Angels.
