YATES CENTER, KS. — Melissa Fay Morris, 88, Yates Center, Kansas, died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at Infinia Health Care Center in Yates Center, Kansas.

She was born March 30, 1916, in Woodson County, Kansas, the daughter of Hugh and Alta (Wiley) Martin.

She grew up in Woodson, County, KS, and graduated from Yates Center High School.

She was a member of the senior center, the Burt Busy Bees Club, the First Christian Church, and the church's CIC class.

On May 6, 1944, she married Harold Morris in Iola, Kansas. He died Jan. 27, 2003.

Survivors include a son, Dean Morris, Yates Center, KS; a brother, Lyle Martin, Columbus Junction, IA; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Reva Morris; a brother, Glenn Martin; and a sister, Hope Withers.

Funeral services were held at Campbell Funeral Home, Yates Center, Kansas. Burial will be in Yates Center Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Yates Center Senior Center, or the First Christian Church.
