Obituary for Derek Matthew Carter

Derek Matthew Carter, age 40, passed away March 11, 2022 in Keswick, Virginia. He was a native of Murfreesboro and graduated from Oakland High School and earned his Bachelors at Middle Tennessee State University. After graduation he moved to Los Angeles, CA. After 14 years he moved to Nashville where he lived until November 2021. He then moved to Keswick, VA where he remained until his recent death.

Derek is survived by his parents, Thomas Ray "Tommy" and Pansey Carter; brother, Chad Carter; sister, Ashley (Nick) Coble; and nephews, Jackson and Carter Coble. He is also survived by multiple aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 PM, Monday, March 21, 2022 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home.

Chapel service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with Jerry Howard and WD Thomason officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
