Robert Marion Parker passed away on Tuesday, March 15th at Israel Family Hospice House. Bob was born June 5th, 1935, in Geneseo, IL to Robert Donald and Esther Pauline (Swanson) Parker. After moving to Pittsfield, Rock Island, Decatur and Alton, Illinois, the family settled in Springfield, and he graduated from Springfield High School in 1953.

Bob earned his Bachelor of Industrial Engineering degree at Bradley University in Peoria, IL where he met his future wife, Loretta Pauline LeRoy at the phone company his father managed. Bob and Loretta were married March 1, 1958, in Peoria, IL.
Through the years, Bob held positions at Continental Can, J.I. Case, Allis Chalmers, Sundstrand Corporation and Iowa State University. In 1977, Bob and Loretta opened the Coast-to-Coast hardware store in Story City, IA which operated through 1991. After several years as Assistant State Director of the Iowa Small Business Development Corporation, he opened an internet consulting firm in Ames. Bob retired from his business ventures in 2007.

Bob and his family have been contributing members of the Story City community since 1977 and continue to reside there today.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Diane Parker Little, and one great-granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, Loretta, his children; Robert D. Parker of Eagle, WI; daughter Sharon Eggenberger and husband, Al, of Ames; Daughter Joanne MacVey of Florence, KY; Son Roger and wife, Susan, of Story City; daughter Beckey Witthuhn and husband, Lonny, of Story City; grandchildren Rob, Aaron (and Marie) Parker; Benjamin Gliddon; Jeramie (and Fred) Hall; Andrew (and Alissa), Kiley and Joseph MacVey; Pressly and Carson Parker; Addison, Parker, Treyton and Jori Witthuhn; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City from 12:30 to 1:30 with the service immediately following. Internment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Story City following the service. The public is invited to attend and join the family for a reception at Grace UMC following internment.
