Visitation for Ardelle Joy Monnette (nee Sypel), 77, of Wauconda, IL will be held Friday, March 18, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. The Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove.

Joy Monnette was born on July 20, 1944 in Chicago, and lived most of her life in the Chicago area. She passed away peacefully during her sleep on March 9, 2022 in her home in Wauconda.

Joy married Robert (Bob) Monnette in 1965. They briefly lived in Maryland before moving to Germany where Bob was stationed with the Army. In 1966, Joy and Bob were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Sandra Monnette. They returned to the United States in 1968 and moved back to the Chicago area. In 1972, they welcomed their son, Michael Monnette. Joy and Bob divorced in 1978. Joy raised her children, often times working three jobs. She retired from AT&T in 2003 to raise her first grandchild, Adam Monnette. In 2007, she also took her granddaughter, Aris Monnette, into her care. She lovingly raised them until 2016 when her health prevented her from providing for all their needs.

Since then, she has enjoyed being "Gramma". Simply stated, Joy's family was everything to her. When her daughter Sandy visited from Virginia, Gramma, Aunt Sandy, Adam, and Aris would enjoy time at Gramma's. Family favorites were playing various card games, playing bowling and sometimes golf on the Wii. Gramma was not very good at golf. This past Christmas, Gramma and Aris made the 'family fudge' that had been missed for several years.

She is preceded in death by her father, Arthur J. Sypel, her beloved mother, Adele C. Sypel (Mueller), and her brother Richard J. Sypel.
