Belarusian Politician. He served as the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of Belarus from March 18, 1948 to December 2, 1967. He started working as a mechanic before being conscripted to serve in the Red Army in 1925 and later joined the All-Union Communist Party two years later. From 1929 to 1933, he attended Minsk University. Later, he would serve several positions within the Communist Party. During the Second World War, he led the resistance against the Germans after they taken control of Minsk. After the war, he became first, the Chairman of the Belarus Supreme Soviet and then in 1948, the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of Belarus. He continued in this post until his passing in 1967.
