Robert A. Mitchell, of Sun Lakes, Arizona, passed on February 24, 2022.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Diane Charamut Mitchell and two loving children, son Steven (Sharyn) and daughter Kimberly Allard. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Amanda, Sarah and Zachariah. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua. Bob also leaves four great grandchildren, Benjamin, Brylee, Braden and Jonah.

He was born to Anthony Mitchell and Nellie Budarz Mitchell on April 26, 1941 in Hartford, CT. Bob joined the Navy while still in high school and upon graduation reported for duty aboard a destroyer and served as a Radar Man. He then went to Central Connecticut State University and received a BS and MA in mathematics.

Bob had a successful career as Reliability Engineer in aerospace at Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut and then at Garrett Turbine Engine in Arizona. He spent many happy summers with family and friends at his cabin in Forest Lakes, Arizona. He was an ambulance driver for the Forest Lakes Fire Department. Bob loved to fly fish especially in the Farmington River in Connecticut. He had stunning Iris gardens at Forest Lakes and was a member of the Sun Valley Iris Society. He had a passion for genealogy spending happy hours researching family history. He also operated a gold claim in the Bradshaw Mountains at Eugene Gulch, Arizona. Since moving to Sun Lakes he was a member of the Desert Navy Veterans Club and the Korean War Veteran's Association.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Steven's Catholic Church in Sun Lakes with burial at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona. The dates are yet to be determined.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Arizona Humane Society.
