She was born on August 21, 1939 in Bronx, NY, a daughter of Murray and Minnie Rubman Greenblatt. She was raised in Rosland Heights, NY and was a graduate of Rosland High School in 1957. On May 15, 1982, Marlene married Robert J. Kerr in Port Jefferson, LI. He predeceased her on August 24, 2010. Marlene had been a bus driver and aide for the Bohemian Bus Co. in LI, and, later, a bus aide for the Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton School District. Primarily, she was a homemaker who devoted her life to raising her family. Her hobbies included knitting, playing Mahjong and Bingo. She was a fan of the Mets baseball team and loved her ice cream.
Surviving are her children, Shari and Mark Bennett of Guilford; Janet and Ken Springs of Fremont, CA; Scott Skulsky of Modesto, CA; her beloved grandchildren, Krista Fitzsimmons of PA; Melissa and Nathaniel Tompkins of Norwich; Desiree Springs, of CA; Ryan and Nicole Springs of CA; Katlyn and Samuel Maldonado of VA; Matthew and Keeley Skulsky of CA; Andrew and Jordan Skulsky of MT; Sabryna Skulsky of CA; her cherished great-grandchildren, Ryan, Carly, Chandler, Lily, Emily, Kaia, Briar, Drew and Paisly. A brother, Gary and Connie Greenblatt of Baltimore, MD; and two nephews. She was predeceased by her good friend (and Bingo partner in crime) Janet Hare.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, March 17, 2022.
Interment will be in the Sherburne Quarter Cemetery at a later date.
