Larry D. Carter, age 78, of Washburn, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 11, 2022 and entered heaven with his Lord, Jesus Christ. He was born January 8, 1944, in San Antonio, TX, the son of Geneva and Tom Carter and shortly after Larry's birth they returned to the "show-me" of Missouri.

He was a graduate of Central High School, in St. Joseph, MO. In St. Joseph, he met Bernice Johnson and on November 21, 1964, they were married and have been so for 57 years. Larry and Bernice have two sons, Jeff and Mark.

Larry retired from the United States Air Force, as a MSGT, after 30 years of service from 1962-1992. He served full time in both the Missouri Air National Guard 139rd Airlift Wing, and the Minnesota Air National Guard 133rd Airlift Wing. He started his career in the Air Force as a crew chief/aircraft mechanic, then avionics technician and for his final 20 years as flight simulator technician. With these units he traveled throughout Europe, and South and Central America. While with the MN ANG Larry was called to serve in Operation Desert Shield and lead an avionics team for the C-130 aircraft as they flew missions out of the United Kingdom and into Europe and the Middle East.

Larry and Bernice moved to Wisconsin in 1993 shortly after Larry retired. They were members of Grace Bible Fellowship, in Washburn where Larry served as an usher.

He was blessed with 5 wonderful grandchildren who affectionately called him "Pappy" and always asked to check his left shirt pocket for certain edible items that their mom and dad may not approve of.

Larry was an avid fisherman, and deer and turkey hunter, and he loved teaching his family and friends about the sport. There have been many a whitetail deer and tom turkey taken out of the God's great woods due to Larry Carter. He could fix most anything and would always help others. He was a craftsman with leather, metal, wood and electricity. He loved creating and inventing.
