Brian Lewis Bates, 20, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on March 11, 2022 after suffering a massive stroke. Brian was born in Lansing on July 25, 2001. Family was everything to Brian. Above all else, he loved his family most. He was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He had a brilliant mind and mastered with ease every project he undertook, from crafts and hobbies to technology. Many of his family and friends relied on Brian to help set up telephone and computer devices. Brian never said "I can't." He loved music and loved to sing and create Beats.

Brian is survived by his mother, Stephanie Kevern; his father, Christopher Lopez; his brothers, Christopher Garza and Wyatt Kevern; his step-father, Tony Kevern; his grandparents, Betty Lou Shaheen and Michael Bates. Surviving Brian also is the love of his life and his soulmate, Marissa Trantham and her son, Cristiano, whom Brian was fortunate to meet and to love and who loved him just as much.

Additionally, Brian is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Louise and Louis Shaheen.
