Father Aronica also served at Salesian High School in New Rochelle as director of the school, 1963-1966; vice principal, 1960-1961; and teacher, 1947-1952. He served twice as superintendent of schools for the New Rochelle-based province, 1973-1975 and 1977-1979, with responsibility for eight high schools, a middle school and two seminaries. In between those assignments, he was director of the Marian Shrine in Stony Point, a popular retreat center. He was vice provincial of the congregation, 1979-1982, and a provincial councilor, 1982-1985. He also taught at Don Bosco Technical High School in Paterson, N.J., and in Boston, and he was a pastor at St. Anthony's parish in Paterson and at Salesian parishes in Birmingham, Ala. After earning a master's degree in English at Fordham University, he wrote on a variety of Salesian topics. One of his best known works is "A Man Sent by God,'' a pamphlet on the life of St. John Bosco (1954). He also was a member of the editorial board for the English translation of the 19-volume "Biographical Memoirs of St. John Bosco'' from 1960 until 1999. Born in Buffalo, he entered the Salesians in 1932 and professed vows in 1937. He was ordained in 1947. A Funeral Mass was offered Nov. 21 at Salesian High School, with burial in the Salesian cemetery in Goshen.
