Obituary:

James Edward McCoy "Mac", 89, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, in a local hospital. He was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and resided in Chattanooga for a number of years.

James attended and graduated from high school in Rock Hill, SC. He furthered his education at Oklahoma State University graduating from the Firefighter's Academy in 1973. He also graduated from McKenzie College in 1977 receiving his associate degree in Business Science.

He served in the United States Air Force for twenty-one years retiring November 1, 1971, as a Master Sergeant E7. James served faithfully and honorably throughout his entire military career. These distinguishing factors led to numerous awards and recognition of excellence during his time of service.

After his military career, James served as head of security at ICI for 23 years.

James was family-oriented. He was kind, honest, generous, and thoughtful to others. He was an avid gardener and reader. He enjoyed discussions involving politics and various worldviews. James was wise and insightful on many issues.

He leaves to mourn, a devoted and loving wife of fifty-one years, Eva Mae McCoy; stepson, Gary Renardo; two devoted cousins, Verna Diary and Carolyn Caldwell; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; one brother-in-law, George Rawls, San Bernardino, CA; 3 sisters-in-law, Arthenia Stocklin, Jacksonville, FL, Marie Adams, Springfield Gardens, NY, and Beatrice Rawls, Chattanooga; special friends, Charles Ford, Irvin Bonner, and Wayne Jefferson; many more endearing friends.

Public viewing will be held from 2:00 pm-6:00 pm on Monday, March 21, 2022, at the funeral home.

A committal service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 10:30 am at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
