John L. Stevens, age 85, of Evart passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022. John was born on April 20, 1936 in Evart, the son of Roy and Esther (Slingland) Stevens. He graduated from Evart High School in 1954 and married Ruth Ann Warrener on November 30, 1957, in Evart, where they made their home and raised their family. John worked for Gardner-Denver for nearly 30 years and retired from Kaiser Aluminum, where he was a machinist. John was a lifetime member of Collin's College of Knowledge. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, working as a gunsmith and teasing.

John is survived by: his wife, Ruth Ann Stevens of Evart; children, Renee (Rob) Marlatt of Vermont, Tamara (Jerry) Ward of Shelby Township and Trent John Stevens of Evart; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Kathleen) Stevens of Freeland; one sister, Peggy (Ronald) Walters of Sears and many extended family and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William and Archie.

Funeral services for John will be held at 1 PM on Friday, February 18th with visitation 11 to 1 PM at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart with Pastor Scott Farrell officiating. He will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery in Evart this spring. Share a memory online at coreyfuneralhome.com
