James Donald Spencer

87, Brownsburg, passed away March 11, 2022 at IU West Hospital in Avon, IN. He was born in Allen County, KY on June 27, 1934, the son of the late Bernard Spencer and Lucy Kay (Witcher, Spencer) Jones. As a child, he was baptized in Kentucky. On January 31, 1954, he married the late Carolyn (Cloud) Spencer in Indianapolis, IN.

James served in the US Army from 1953-1955 with Co. D 4th Engineer Battalion in Germany. He then worked a variety of jobs for Blue & White Services including sales and management for over 40 years. James enjoyed spending time at the golf course and playing guitar with friends and for family. He never met a stranger and talked to everyone.

James is survived by his daughters Tamara Fay, Judy (Kevin) Scheiwe, and Donna (Patrick) Smiley; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, James was preceded in death by his brother Billy Clay Spencer and sister Betty Fay (Spencer) Boyer.

A private memorial service will be held among family as James is laid to rest next to his wife at Brownsburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Indiana Canine Assistant Network (www.icandog.org) or to the donor's choice.
