Billy Christopher "Chris" Phillips passed away Wednesday March 9, 2022 at Merit Health River Region Hospital in Vicksburg. He was 61. He was born in Hazlehurst on June 20, 1960 to Billy Mansfield Phillips and the late Betty Hayles Phillips. Chris was an avid fisherman, especially bass fishing. He also enjoyed hunting. He was laid back and easy going, he was a bit of a jokester and was always making everyone around him have a good time. Chris was a devoted family man; lovingly know by his grandchildren as "Pop". He is a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed.
Chris is preceded in death by his mother, grandfather and grandmother, Belton and Lois Phillips.
He is survived by his father, Billy Mansfield Phillips; his loving wife of 40 years, Cathy Phillips of Crystal Springs; his son, Casey Phillips (Amanda) of Meridian, his daughter, Cayla Taylor (Nathan) of Braxton; his children he brought into the family and made his own, Caleb Landsdale, Lauren Weldon and Anna Morgan; sisters, Cindy White (Perry) and Marlo Hollis (Scott) both of Crystal Springs; his grandchildren, Camdon Taylor, Landree Taylor, Jael Hight and Isaiah Taylor.
The funeral is set for Monday, March 14, 2022 at 11 AM at Hopewell Baptist Church with Reverend Stephen Byrd officiating. The visitation will begin at 10 AM until 11 AM. Interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Scott Hollis, Perry White, Paul and Richard McInnis, Nathan Taylor and Caleb Landsdale. Honorary pallbearers include, Daniel White, Tim Quinnelly, Terry Anderson and Mark Wallace.
