Grace Smerdon Baker-Falkner, daughter of Charles Edward Baker of Nottingham and of London, England and Mary Anne Smerdon, of London and Nottingham, England. Wife of Canadian pioneer farmer who served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force, CEF, in WW1. and Great War Veterans Association in Broadview, Saskatchewan, Canada, and later in Victoria, BC, Canada. Grace and family emigrated to UK in 1930, was violin teacher and concert musician in Canada, Shaldon and Teignmouth in WW2, at a time when her eldest son Roy Sydney Baker-Falkner DSO DSC RN was serving in the Fleet Air Arm and led the historic attack on the German Battleship Tirpitz in April 1944, her son later went missing and recorded on the Fleet air arm memorial at Lee on Solent, Hampshire, England. Grace initially refused to have her sons name inscribed on the Shaldon war memorial due to extreme sadness. Retired to Parkstone about 1956 with husband Reginald Sydney Baker-Falkner. Both changed their surname from Falkner to Baker-Falker in about 1935. Died in Northwood at Mount Vernon hospital whilst staying with family in Middlesex.
