Margaret Dodson Lewis, 92 of Chattanooga, died peacefully surrounded by loving family on March 11, 2022.

She was born in 1929 on the banks of Piney Creek to Leonard (Jigs) & Willie Mae Dodson and raised in Spring City, TN.

Margaret was a 1947 graduate of Spring City High School where she played basketball and was proudly voted Most Likely to Succeed.

She would later follow her sister Helen to Chattanooga, TN where they worked at George's Famous Hamburgers where she would meet Max Lewis, the love of her life.

Max joined the Army National Guard and his was the first local unit to be called to duty at Fort Stewart, GA. where they lived on base. The couple eventually returned to Chattanooga and started a family. In 1960 Max and Margaret started the ongoing family business, East Brainerd Plumbing, operated today by sons, Eddie and Steve Lewis.

A longtime member of Morris Hill Baptist Church, Margaret was head of the Primary Sunday School Department for many years and coached/played for the women's softball team as well.

Through the years, Max and Margaret selflessly opened their home to take in and care for ailing loved ones and friends.

Margaret was always known as a diligent and hard worker, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was known as the local expert for area handymen seeking just the right part for the fix. She was very much loved and trusted.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Max; siblings, Rosalie Kirkland, Helen Dodson, Donald Dodson, John Dodson.

Left to cherish her legacy are her sons, Eddie (Becky) Lewis, Steve (Sherra) Lewis; grandchildren, Joshua (Jessica) Lewis, Zack (Georgia) Lewis, Laura (Jake) Johnson, Rachel (Zach) Hutcherson, Jacob Lewis, Ashton Lewis; great grand-children, Devin, James, Corbin, Alexandria, Audrey, Teddy, Adeline, Oliver, Kinleigh, and a host of nieces and nephews.
