Mrs. Mabel Gilley Jones, age 87, of Creston passed away Monday morning, March 7, 2022 at Margate Health & Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Boone Family Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Ambrose Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 pm on Thursday, March 10, 2022; one hour prior to the funeral service.
The family requests everyone to wear a mask and to practice social distancing, if attending the services.
Mrs. Jones was born in Ashe County on June 3, 1934 to the late Roy and Beulah Day Robbins Gilley. She worked as a caregiver. She was a member of Clifton United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking and gardening the most. The family especially loved her hot biscuits and apple butter. She will be truly missed.
Mrs. Jones is survived by: her husband , of 66 years of marriage, Frank Jones; a son, Tom Jones (Janey), of North Wilkesboro; a daughter, Patricia Longo (Joe), of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Aaron Jones (Amanda), of wake Forest, NC, Pamela widener (Barry), of Yulee, Florida, Melissa Longo, of Creston and Joseph Longo (Jamie, of Jacksonville, Florida; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
