"A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies." Proverbs 31:10

Sara Price Finley, age 87, of Raleigh, North Carolina, went into the loving arms of her Savior on March 9, 2022 surrounded by her family.

A native of Darlington, Maryland, she is the eldest daughter of the late David Elisha Price and Inez Scarbrough Price.

She is also predeceased by her daughter Sally Finley.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Earle Finley, and their four children, Duke Finley (Rose), Sue Cotton (Steve), Bill Finley (Cindy) and Ann Dillon (Chris). Sara was also the proud grandmother of twenty grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Sara grew up roaming the woods and hills of Harford County, Maryland. Sara's love for the outdoors lived on at Bunny's Burrow, her mountain retreat, on Groundhog Mountain in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. Here she introduced her many grandchildren to Mabry Mill's buckwheat pancakes, countless board games, and identifying all varieties of birds that frequented her mountain cottage.

Sara enjoyed music and played several instruments. She often warmed her home with the sounds of her accomplished piano playing. She loved all things outside, especially gardening, playing tennis, and bird watching. Sara was a voracious reader, whose interest ranged from the Mitford Series to Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Above all, Sara had a childlike faith in Jesus Christ that was manifest in the way she loved and cared for her family and loved ones.

The greatest joy of Sara's life was loving her husband, Earle, and their four children. Her home-cooked meals were eagerly awaited, and her made-from-scratch chocolate chip cookies were treasured by her family who often sneaked them for a secret tasting.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the love and support that Sara's caregivers provided, including Toni Hunter, Cynthia Jackson, and Lisa Webb, as well as Denise Torain of Wisdom Senior Care and her fine staff. Their caregiving and professionalism made an impactful difference.

Finally, the compassionate care and guidance that Transitions LifeCare provided was much valued by Sara and her family.

Sara's family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home at 300 St. Mary's Street on Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 4-6 p.m. and a funeral service will be held at Providence Church located at 6339 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612, at 1 p.m. on March 14, 2022. A graveside service will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh.
