He attended St Stephen's School and Episcopal High School, both in Alexandria, VA, and graduated from the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, in 1963. He served for 26 years in the Navy before retiring in 1984. He was a fighter pilot in three operational squadrons and served two tours as an engineering test pilot at the Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River and at NASA in Langley. As an aeronautical engineering duty officer for the Navy, he worked on the development of the Tomahawk missile. He retired in 1989 and worked as a defense contractor with several firms in the Washington area. Among his military awards and decorations were the Air Medal (13); Joint Service Commendation Medal; Defense Meritorious Medal; Navy Commendation Medal; Presidential United Citation; Navy Unit Citation and the Meritorious Unit Citation.

He was predeceased by his parents, Leonard Bates Jaudon and Dorothy Ann Philips Jaudon. He was survived by his wife; his two sons; his sister; his brother; and four grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, Alexandria, VA, on Wednesday, November 7, 2007. Funeral services were held at the Old Post Chapel, Fort Myer, VA, followed by interment on January 4, 2008.
