Rose Mary Lane Lewis, 81, of Hot Springs passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022. She was born in Little Rock, AR to the late Hardy Scott and Tina Morehart Lane.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings; Hardy Scott Lane, Harlan Lane, Jack Winston Lane, James Norman "Bo" Lane, Miriam Genter, and Gerel Neal "Budgy" Lane.
She was beloved mother to Paul Scott Jenkins of Haskell, AR, Mark Todd Jenkins of Houston, AR, and Carol Jenkins Abdelhalim (Mohamed) of Decatur, GA. She was Grandmother to Sydney Blair Free (Corey) of Conway and Ahmed Paul Abdelhalim, of Decatur GA. Great Grandmother to Hattie and Shepherd Free.
She was a godly woman her entire life, with never-failing devotion and she was prepared to meet her Jesus. She was a cherished member of Morning Star United Methodist Church acting as choir director at times, attending Bible Study, Sunday School, and all Potlucks, where her famous Jalapeno Corn Casserole will go down in history!
She and her husband were volunteers at The Melting Pot Genealogical Society and loved researching their ancestors and finding long, lost relatives (on Rick's side.)
She had many talents. She was a singer and dancer trained in Tap, Toe, and Ballet. In her youth, she sang on a Saturday morning radio show in Little Rock and performed on the traveling Hayride Circuit. She was also a talented Baton Twirler and won a Horace Heidt Talent Show in the 50s. She taught Baton Twirling for many years. She also devoted time to being Cub Scout, Brownie, and 4-H leaders for her children and their classmates.
Rose was a beautiful, caring soul and drew many people to her. She was a friend to many and even though she only had three children of her own, there are many people in her life who call her Mom!
She loved to travel, once taking a 3,600 mile round trip vacation from Hot Springs to New Mexico on the back of her husband's motorcycle (in her 70s!). She and her husband also enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. in their camper to sightsee and visit relatives.
A memorial service will take place on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Morning Star United Methodist Church, 3200 Spring St, Hot Springs, AR., at 11:00 am, with a luncheon for family and friends following.
