Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to Ronald Leon Bates. She later moved to Lansing, Michigan.
Sister Dorothy accepted Christ as her personal savior under leadership of the late Pastor Larry Mitchell Trice, Sr. at Pentecostal Outreach Church of God in Christ. Sister Dorothy served throughout the Body of Christ under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Angeline L. Trice, Tabernacle of David; Pastor Harry Chandler, International Harvest Church; and Pastors Dr. Willie and Angela Loggins, House of Prayer Outreach COGIC. Sister Dorothy was a true servant and embodied Psalms 84:10, "For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand.
